Balagan was founded in 2014 by two friends, Agata Matlak-Lutyk and Hania Ferenc-Hilsden. It was born from a desire to create products with timeless design and classic style, while prioritizing quality and comfort. At Balagan, artisanal traditions blend with our interpretation of trends and functionality, responding to the needs of modern women. This creative twist - where craftsmanship meets the modern rhythm of life, and minimalism plays with form - is also reflected in our name.
The very beginnings
It all started with a single pair of shoes and a friendship with an experienced shoemaker. That is how the iconic Opera ballet flat was created, remaining a bestseller to this day. Soon, more footwear, bags, and accessories joined the collection; we have been crafting the Rofe and Hug mini-bags and Tzava boots for years. Each season, new products become your favorites and stay with us for a long time, such as the Dora T-strap pumps or the addictively comfortable, strobel-stitched Tefer loafers. Many pieces return, like the Ima XL bag, which appeared in our very first collections and, thanks to its timeless form, still perfectly fits both classic style and current trends.

Our designs combine minimalism and functionality with new-vintage inspirations and the lifestyle of modern women. Balagan products are made by local Polish manufactories, crafted by experienced artisans with respect for traditional craftsmanship and manual work. Dedication to detail, durability, and quality ensures that our pieces will accompany you for years, gaining character, softness, and depth of color over time.

For years, our team has consisted almost entirely of women, we chart our own course and consistently follow it. We ensure fair employment conditions and a supportive work environment where we value not only creativity and growth but, above all, safety and mutual support. Since the beginning, Balagan has supported social initiatives that improve quality of life - 1% of the profit from every purchase goes to charitable causes.

Our first boutique opened at the Mysia 3 in Warsaw. Today, we also invite you to Elektrownia Powiśle in Warsaw, Stary Browar in Poznań, Klif in Gdynia, and Bonarka in Kraków. We’re spreading around - Balagan is available worldwide through our retail partners and shopping platforms. We also build an online community through our website, newsletter, and social media.
