Balagan was founded in 2014 by two friends, Agata Matlak-Lutyk and Hania Ferenc-Hilsden. It emerged from a desire to create products with timeless design and classic style, while prioritizing quality and comfort. The brand was born between two cities, where its founders and designers live – Warsaw and Tel Aviv. Drawing inspiration from the style and culture of both cities, they combine the tradition of Warsaw craftsmanship with the laid-back vibe of the streets of Israel.
The name "Balagan" reflects the brand’s playful and unique character, blending elegance with everyday simplicity, history with modernity, and craftsmanship with the pursuit of new solutions. It is also a word that exists in both the Polish and Hebrew languages.
BEGINNINGS
It all started with one pair of shoes and a friendship with an experienced shoemaker. This led to the creation of the iconic Opera ballet flats, which remain a bestseller to this day. Soon, other shoes models, bags, and accessories followed. For years, we have been producing our mini bags Rofe and Hug, as well as the Tzava boots. With each season, more products become your favorites, earning a permanent place in our collection.

Our designs combine minimalism and functionality, drawing inspiration from new vintage trends and the lifestyle of modern women. Balagan products are handmade from high-quality natural materials and are highly functional. Attention to detail, durability, and quality ensure that our items will accompany you for years, gaining a noble softness and depth of color over time.
OUR VALUES
From the very beginning, Balagan has focused on running an ethical business, with respect for our customers, craftsmen, producers, and the environment. Price Transparency, Production Transparency, and the Social Initiatives Program are the three pillars on which we build our brand. We follow a transparent pricing policy, revealing the breakdown of costs behind the final price of each product. We are committed to sustainable production, sewing locally, carefully selecting materials and designs with environmental impact in mind. We aim to offer timeless products that age beautifully, are durable, and resist seasonal trends.
TEAM
Our team consists mainly of women. We ensure fair employment conditions and a supportive work environment. We also collaborate closely with foundations through our Social Initiatives Program, donating 1% of our margin to foundations such as the Natural Heritage Foundation and a preschool in Ghana.
STORES
We opened our first store on Mysia 3 in Warsaw, and it remains our flagship boutique. We also have a second store in Warsaw, at Elektrownia Powiśle, as well as two more in Galeria Kazimierz Kraków and Galeria Klif Gdynia. We're not stopping in Poland—Balagan is available worldwide, through our partner stores and online shopping platforms.
