Balagan going places x Piotr Pietrus

Piotr Pietrus is the second photographer, who participated in our Balagan Going Places project. Our products are shown through his daily Berlin lens. Piotr comes from Poland and lives in the German artistic capital. His work examines (amongst others) the intersection between the poetic and political.

In the photoshoot for Balagan he pictures: his partner in life Catherine Evans artist working across photography and installation and Joséphine Demerliac a French video and film maker.

Piotr chose two different locations: Tempelhof airport, which holds a lot of little secret spots and Körnerpark in a creative neighbourhood which on a side note is unfortunately is struggling a lot with gentrification.

The photographer mentions how the weather was not very suitable for shooting: „Storm clouds chased us during both shoots, sometimes we even had to pause under the eaves during the warm spring rains, drinking 1 Euro espressos while waiting for them to pass.”

This gave an effect of very atmospheric photos, in which our shoes uniquely contrast with the dark, rainy background.
