They are conveniently fastened with a zipper. They don’t shorten legs or silhouette and their straight, outer seam along the upper slims them even more. They look extremely noble - with their smooth upper that adjusts to the foot. Also gerev means a sock in Hebrew - and this says a lot about how comfy they are!
